Southampton’s Wanyama Could Be Out For 4 Weeks With Injury

Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman has confirmed Victor Wanyama has a major injury concern following Wednesday night's FA Cup win at Ipswich.
The Kenyan midfielder limped off with a suspected hamstring injury seconds before the half time in the third round replay. The Saints advanced with a 1-0 win courtesy of a Shane Long strike.
The Dutch boss had initially planned to play Wanyama for 45 minutes as the replay comes in what has been a busy week for the fourth-placed Premier League side, but now fears he could lose the 23-year-old for up to five weeks.
"It's really negative because already we have some other injuries," said Koeman. "It was 12 seconds until half-time when he got his hamstring injury, and you know if it's really a hamstring injury he will be out for four or five weeks."

Wanyama has been a reliable member of Koeman's squad with 24 appearances this season in all competitions.
He could miss the visit to Liverpool on 22 Fevruary and matches against Newcastle, Swansea, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham if the manager's assessment were ascertained.
With the club also struggling with other injury worries, Koeman says Wanyama's situation "will not necessarily" force him into the transfer market.
Fellow midfielder Morgan Schneirderlin was ruled out of the FA Cup third round replay due to a leg injury but Northern Ireland international Steven Davis came on for Wanyama at Portman Road. Central defender Toby Alderweireld is also unavailable for selection.
"Schneirderlin has a similar thing to when he came back from the France national team- an abductor problem in his right leg," Koeman added. "He will be out for three weeks, kile Toby Alderweireld. But we have a lot of young players.
"We have young lads and a good uner-21 side. But sometimes it's too much and we have to protect them. We will see what we need to do."
